The April Parker Foundation was awarded a $10,000 grant on KCAL News for its work supporting underserved communities in Los Angeles. The funds will help launch a Health & Wellness Center at the foundation’s transitional housing facility, providing fitness equipment, telehealth services, and essential resources for youth.

The April Parker Foundation was recently honored on KCAL News with a $10,000 grant as part of Mental Health Action Day, recognizing its impactful work in providing housing, wellness, and financial resources to underserved communities in Los Angeles.

Founder April Parker, a U.S. Army veteran, shared her journey of launching the nonprofit, driven by a lifelong commitment to service. Recognizing critical gaps in community support, Parker leveraged her business acumen and problem-solving approach to create long-term sustainable solutions for homelessness and mental health support.

During the KCAL News segment, Parker expressed her gratitude for the funding, which will be used to establish a new Health & Wellness Center at the foundation’s transitional housing facility. The center will provide fitness equipment, telehealth services, and essential resources to help young people stay physically and mentally healthy.

“This grant will go a long way in supporting our mission to end youth homelessness and provide holistic wellness support,” said Parker. “We are deeply grateful to KCAL News and Mental Health Action Day for recognizing our work and helping us expand our impact.”

The April Parker Foundation is committed to fostering collaborative solutions with government agencies and community partners to address homelessness at its root.
